Social Program

Between and after the course hours we offer you some special lectures and social events. The participation is free, but make sure to register early as some of them have limited places or need special preparation.

 

Monday, January 21:
“VILLAGE WALK trough Wengen” with the local historian Rolf Wegmüller
Visit the most attractive places in Wengen, have the best view on the surrounding mountains and learn about Wengen’s history and all-day life. The walk is followed by coffee and cake and highly recommended especially for those who have not been in Wengen before (but of course also for everyone who is interested).

“SPECIAL LECTURE” by Prof. Caroline Relton

Tuesday, January 22:
“CURLING”
Curling is a very popular winter sport in Switzerland. Learn how to play this game and have fun competing with the other student teams.
Time: 20:30 – 22:30 (approximately)

Wednesday, January 23:
“STUDENTS DINNER” at Bergrestaurant Allmend
Enjoy a delicious dinner with a beautiful mountain view together with many other participants as well as the lecturers.  Probably one of the best chances for networking during this week.

Menu:
Green salad with vinaigrette

Sliced veal “Zürcher Art” with butter noodles and bundle of beans with bacon wrap
* * *
Crème Brûlée
The menu can be adapted for vegetarians and persons with food allergies (use registration form for details)

Time: 18:50 – 22:00
Meeting point: train station Wengen. An extra train will bring us to the restaurant and later back to Wengen. So make sure you are on time if you don’t want to walk 2 km uphill!

If you prefer go skiing during your free time, we will provide you a code for a discount at the local ski rental. You will receive this code with an information e-mail some weeks before the Winter School takes place.
