Open Registration for Swiss Epidemiology Winter School 2025 started on September 16th 2024.

The registration for the courses is done in three phases.
1. Preregistration phase: anyone can preregister for the course(s) they would like to attend. Registration during this phase is preliminary and does not guarantee a course seat. The preregistration phase will be from 26 August – 1 September 2024.
2. Seat allocation by the program directorate: The program directorate allocates course seats based on registrations from phase one. Anyone who does not receive a course seat initially, will be placed on a waiting list.
3. Open registration: After the initial seat allocation through the program directors, direct registration to the courses will be opened to the public. For fully booked courses, direct registration to the waiting list is possible.

Terms and Conditions

  • Payment of the course fee is due upon registration. Registrations without payments are not valid and will be deleted.
  • The payment is only possible via credit card with 3D Secure Code. Other payment methods are not accepted.
  • In the event of cancellation by the participants before December 1st, we reserve the right to retain a cancelation fee of CHF 100.-. For cancellations up to December 31st, we reserve the right to retain 50 % of the course costs as a cancellation fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations after January 1st. Cancellation must be done by email.
  • ISPM reserves the right to cancel or postpone the course in which case fees will be refunded in full. In the case of cancellation, the University of Bern will not be held liable for registrants travel or accommodation costs. Make sure you have a travel insurance.
  • The participants have to book their accommodation themselves directly with the hotels.
  • We have pre-reserved a certain number of rooms. You will find information about these hotels here. Please take note of the terms and conditions of the chosen hotel (especially in case of cancellation).

The course fee includes the course sessions and materials (primarily digital versions), as well as the coffee breaks and participation in all social events.

PhD Bern students must indicate their matriculation number.

External PhD students must upload a copy of their student ID or any other matriculation confirmation on the registration platform.

No. We accept only Visa and Mastercard. Payment by invoice or bank transfer is not possible.

No, this is not possible due to organizational reasons.

This is very hard to predict and depends on your place on the waiting list. Empirically, the first three person have quite a good chance. In this case, we will inform you as soon as possible about cancellations. If we don’t contact you, then there is no place available for you.

Cancellations Before December 1st:

  • A cancellation fee of CHF 100 will be retained.

Cancellations from December 1st to December 31st:

  • 50% of the course costs will be retained as a cancellation fee.

Cancellations After January 1st:

  • No refunds will be issued.

We have special arrangements with the hotels where the courses are held. To receive these special rates, please book your room directly with the hotel. We will send out further information after registration. Please note that prices can be up to 30% higher if you use websites such as booking.com.

Information including the course schedule, the list of preparatory work, and articles to read in advance will be available by the end of 2024. We will inform you accordingly by email.

The slides will be available for download during the course. Often the lecturers make changes shortly before and even during the course, so printouts are not likely to be up to date. For certain courses you will receive print outs for practicals. In case you need other printouts, please ask at your hotel reception if they can print for you (at your own cost).

Some of the events have limited capacity or need some preparation. Registration is especially necessary for dinner on Wednesday and Curling.

Our IT team can assist you with installing software or access to the local server, and IT staff will be available in the course rooms from time to time. You may contact IT support via e-mail to . Please note that support is not available for Linux-based systems.

Hotel WLAN is available in the course rooms. In the Bühlstube we will provide a hotspot with limited data capacity. Please note that the WLAN is not very fast, especially when many people access it at the same time. Therefore we ask you not to use it for any private activity!
